A mandatory water restriction for the Devens community is in place. Nonessential water use is restricted between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. and includes the following prohibitions against --
Irrigation of lawns via sprinklers or automatic irrigation systems;
Washing of vehicles, except in a commercial car wash or as necessary for operator safety; and
Washing of external building surfaces, parking lots, driveways and sidewalks, except to apply surface treatments such as paint, preservatives, stucco, pavement, or cement.
Signage has been posted at the entrances to Devens and will remain in place for as long as the restriction lasts. In accordance with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, this restriction will occur whenever the Nashua River water level falls below a specified point for three consecutive days.
