Occupation: Dog, philosopher

Why do you come to the library? I enjoy attending the many programs the library has to offer, especially the music venues, and I like getting books to read during my down-time. I enjoy the works of Shakespeare, the Dialogues of Socrates, and "Gourmet Dog Biscuits from Your Bread Machine" by Sondra Macdonald and "Giant George: Life with the World's Biggest Dog" by Dave Nassar.

What do you geek? Cat adoption.

Lawrence Library geeks cat adoption, too! In fact, we will be hosting many programs in June to celebrate Adopt-A-Shelter-Cat Month.

Kenji has adopted three cats, and knows all about the adoption process. If you are interested in learning about cat adoption, join us on Saturday, June 14, for Adopt a Cat Day. The Pat Brody Shelter in Lunenburg will be visiting us with a few of their kitties who are looking for forever homes, and providing literature and information about their shelter and the process of adopting cats.

Those interested in helping the shelter who do not want to adopt can also stop by and purchase a cat toy, the proceeds of which help to fund the shelter. In addition, the library will be collecting donations of food, toys, litter, bedding and money during the entire month of June.

We have a program for kids and teens, too! At 2 p.m. on June 21, the Lowell Humane Society will be joining us to talk about Pet Safety for Kids; learn about how to keep your pet safe, collaring and microchipping your pets and what to do if your pet gets lost.

Little ones may prefer to join us for Kitty Cat Storytime, which will take the place of our regular Wednesday morning storytime on June 11 at 10:30 a.m. Miss Shannon and Miss Kat will have cat-themed stories, songs and a craft, as well as a special visitor -- Miss Kat's very own cat, and one of our earlier Geeks of the Week, Falkor.

The library can help everyone explore the things they geek. For information, stop by Lawrence Library.
