Thanks go out to the following businesses who are sponsoring some of the entertainers at this year's Shirley Hoe Down on Saturday June 7.

These generous businesses include Dr. Eddy, the Law Offices of Ernest H. Hyde, North Middlesex Savings Bank, Phoenix Park, the Piccolino Club, Shirley Fuel and Gas, and Village Pizza, and the organizers hope to receive more donations in next week's mail.

The day's events will start at high noon with the raising of the flag and the Star Spangled Banner followed by music from the Ayer Shirley Middle School band and chorus.

Next will be a demonstration by 360 Gymnastics and a performance by a local student rock and roll band under the direction of John Hansen.

Maria's School of Dance will be back for the third year to show what their girls can do and then Emilie Faucher and some of her friends will entertain with a variety of music stylings.

The annual Crazy Hat Parade kicks off at 3:30 p.m. Children may bring their own creative hats or decorate a hat when they arrive at the Hoe Down.

Next, Blinkee the Clown will perform some magic tricks and then make balloon creatures for the children.

Lindsey's School of Dance will present some of their favorite numbers and the day will finish with a concert by the popular local band -- Back to the Garden.

Throughout the day, there will be the dunk tank, the bouncy house and lots of food choices and sales tables.
