AYER -- Please join us Sunday, May 18, for the 10th annual Janis Bresnahan 5K Run for Education!

This year's event will feature a competitive 5K run through Ayer, as well as a 2-K, noncompetitive Fun Run & Walk and a Tot Trot for children through age six. Additional features will include live music, barbecue, award-ceremony and fun activities for kids of all ages!

The event will be held at Ayer Shirley Middle-High School with race day registration beginning at 9:30 a.m., the Tot Trot to start at 10:30 a.m., the Fun Run & Walk at 11:15 a.m., and the 5K start is noon. A prize of $100 will go to the first-place male and female overall finishers for the 5K run. Prizes will also be given to the top finishers in all age categories.

Amenities include course mile markers, chip timing, water stations, medical personnel, refreshments and restrooms. Post-race festivities will include an awards ceremony, barbecue, live music and fun activities for kids until 2 p.m.

The pre-registration fee is $10 for the Tot Trot and $15 for the 5K Run or 2K Run/Walk. The first 300 registered participants will receive a free short-sleeved, 100 percent cotton race T-shirt.

Race day registration is $10 for the Tot Trot and $20 for the 5K Run and 2K Fun Run/Walk.

All proceeds from the road race will go to the Ayer Shirley Education Foundation (www. ayershirleyeducationfoundation.org) whose vision is to increase education opportunities for the students in Ayer Shirley Public Schools.
