GROTON -- Come celebrate Earth Day in Groton on Sunday, April 27, 1-5 p.m., rain or shine, inside historic Williams Barn, 160 Chicopee Row.

The gathering will include local environmental groups, companies, craft demonstrations and artists. Gilson Greenhouses will be selling vegetable seedlings and Friends of Trees will be there with tree seedlings.

We'll have a professional garden planner with us to explain the do's and don'ts of gardening. Groton's Bliss Bakery will be selling their goodies, including "Earth Pies" and Groton Local will have our fundraising beverage table.

Professional local artist Rebecca Ranney's very popular renderings will be with us again this year. Yoga Master Barbara Rich of Yoga for Daily Living will be with us to talk about the benefits of yoga and Morningstar Mandaye of Little Bear Massage will give free chair massages.

Diane Carson of Groton's Nashoba Paddler will talk about Kids River Camp and canoe rentals for lazy "escape" days on the Nashua River. Experts from Friot Water Treatment Co. will answer questions about your family's well water, and NRWA will tell us about protecting our watershed areas.

The Groton Conservation Trust will update us on our town's sustained land. Bee Keeper Jen Reed, selling her honey, and Maple Sugar professional Kevin Ritchie, selling his maple syrup, will answer all of your questions.

Woodworker Peter Benedict will be there to discuss his craft and we'll learn much from Lili Ott who will bring her preserves.

You can save energy at home with Next Step Living's funded programs and Kerry Koskinen, owner of RetroFuture Remodeling, will consult on upgrading your home-beyond weatherization.

We will have representatives from a newly formed Food Collection Group, which will benefit local food pantries and soup kitchens on site and Groton's Sustainability Commission will talk about their ongoing programs.
