HARVARD -- At 7 p.m., Thursday evening, April 17, Mary Fuhrer will present "Paths to the Harvard Poor House," a look at how Harvard took care of the poor throughout its history, reflecting changes in attitude about an issue very much debated today.

Mary Fuhrer is an author and public historian who interprets 18th and 19th century New England through primary source materials. Her new book, entitled, "A Crisis of Community: The Trials and Transformation of a New England Town, 1815-1848," has just been published.

This event is the first in the Harvard Historical Society's Spring Discover Harvard series. It will be held at 215 Still River Road, Harvard.

Free. Donation suggested.
