* Saturday, April 26: Vernal pools walk and sampling

Takashi Tada will lead a walk in the Pine Meadow Pond Conservation Area surveying potential or confirmed vernal pools. Takashi will coordinate with Lee Curtis to show the science of verifying the water bodies as "vernal." Meet at 9 a.m. at the Groton Harvard Road Trailhead. Families are welcome. Bring warm clothes, waterproof boots and drinking water. The walk should be over by approximately noon. Contact Takashi at 610-214-6560 for information and sign-up.

* Saturday, May 3: Trail cleanup and re-marking short section of science trail

Steve Smith, Bill Clements, George Bacon and Andrew Crowley will lead a multi-team trail cleanup and re-marking project. Meet at 9 a.m. at the Groton Harvard Road Trailhead. Bring work clothes, sturdy shoes, drinking water, hand saws, rakes, loppers and hand clippers. Teams will deploy on all Pine Meadow trails to clear winter blow-downs and clean up duff and brush to achieve a clear trail pathway for all our beautiful trails. The project should end approximately at noon.

*Saturday, May 31: Birding walk and cataloging bird species in Pine Meadow and Autumn Ridge conservation areas

Takashi Tada will lead a birdwatching and identification walk along the Habitat Trail, which is rich in habitat variety and has lots of different species. Meet at 9 a.m. at the Groton Harvard Road Trailhead. Bring clothes appropriate to the weather, good bug repellent, drinking water, binoculars (if you have them), camera and any birding books you favor. Families are welcome. The walk should be over approximately at noon.

*Saturday, July 19: Summer woods walk including geology observation and some rock scrambles

Steve Smith will lead a walk along the Habitat Trail to Porcupine Hill, where we will observe the rocky crags and get a chance to climb amongst the rocks. Bring sturdy shoes, comfortable clothes (long pants advised), bug repellent, camera, and drinking water. Families are welcome. The walk should be over approximately at noon.

*Saturday, October 4: Fall foliage walk and trail patrol

Takashi Tada and Steve Smith will lead a walk in the glorious fall colors of our hardwood forests along Pine Meadow Pond and up Porcupine Hill. As we walk, trail blow-downs and encroaching brush will be removed. Bring comfortable clothes, walking shoes, bug repellent, cameras, hand saws, loppers, hand clippers and drinking water. Families are welcome. The walk should be over approximately at noon.
