SHIRLEY -- The newest volunteer at the Shirley Historical Society Museum is Matt Richards of Pepperell. He is a post-graduate student in the Gateway Program in North Middlesex Regional School District.

Matt's project at the museum involves going through old copies of the Shirley Oracle newspaper and cutting out news articles that pertain specifically to Shirley events and Shirley people, and then creating a scrapbook with an index of news article topics.

Matt has also volunteered at the North Middlesex Regional High School store and at the Townsend Ecumenical Outreach. He has worked at Donelan's Supermarket and the Colonial Hotel.

As for this job, he said, "I think it is really interesting and I enjoy learning new things."

The historical society museum is open Mondays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for visitors, researchers and volunteers. Those interested in volunteering should contact curator Meredith Marcinkewicz at mail@shirleyhistory.org.
