SHIRLEY -- Town Administrator Patrice Garvin told selectmen Monday night that signs they authorized last week to limit commuter-parking hours on Ayer Road by the train station had been put up and that police were ticketing violators.

A couple of people complained about the citations, saying the signs were "not visible," she said, and she informed DPW Foreman Paul Farrar.

Garvin also reported sending a bill for $1,629 to the Montachusett Area Regional Transit Authority for excess plowing on state land at the station, beyond the allotted 25 spaces the MBTA agreed to pay for. The amount covers labor hours and gas, she said.

MART Director Mohammed Khan gave her the green light to send the bill, Garvin said.

Asked if she spoke with Khan about whether the town could issue train station parking stickers for a fee, as other communities do, Garvin said her discussions with MART were ongoing and she would bring the matter up again.
