St. Patrick's Day supper March 15

Come to an early St. Patrick's Day supper at Christian Union Church in West. Groton.

Corned Beef and Cabbage and the traditional veggies will be served on Saturday, March 15, from 5-7 p.m. Apple pie and ice cream will top off the meal.

So bring your friends, neighbors, relatives (Irish or not) and enjoy a wonderful meal. This will be served family-style, continuous-serving and take-outs are available. No reservations required.

Church is located in West Groton, West Main Street (Route 225) across from fire station.

Cost is $10 for adults; $5 for ages 6-12 and under 6 eat free.

GDEF Trivia Night March 15

The Groton Dunstable Education Foundation's popular Trivia Night returns to Groton's Main Street Café for just one night, Saturday, March 15, thanks to student volunteers from the GDRHS National Honor Society.

Doors open at 6 p.m. with a special menu of home-cooked favorites (BYOB with food purchase).

Starting at 7 p.m., Main Street's DJ Bob Wright hosts a friendly trivia competition for teams of four to five. Come with your own team or join one that night.

Admission is just $10 at the door (first-come, first-served) and proceeds fund GDEF grants to district schools.

New England Contra Dance March 15

Celebrate Saint Patrick's Day with your friends at Groton Grange #7 as we present a traditional New England Contra Dance from 7:30-10 p.m. at Historic Groton Grange Hall, 80 Champney St. This will be an evening of live music and dancing with Groton's own Contra Banditos along with Dudley Laufman and the Two Fiddles.

Dudley will teach traditional New England style contra, square and line-dances to the beat of old time fiddle tunes. Beginners are welcome, no experience is necessary.

As a special treat, the Flying Irish Dance Troupe and Studio will perform traditional Irish step dance during the intermission. Studio owner Mary Sara O'Hanlon will be available to hand out information and answer questions about the The Flying Irish School of Dance.

Donation at the door is $5. Children under 5 years old are free, and family maximum is $20. Refreshments are provided.

Guided Trail Hike March 16

On Sunday, March 16, at 1 p.m. sharp, join members of the Groton Trails Committee and the Appalachian Mountain Club on a guided hike from historic Williams Barn through the Sorhaug Woods.

This hike has a bit of everything, from a low-lying beaver pond, to upland woods, to open orchard, then a climb to the highest point in Groton, Chestnut Hill, affording nice views.

Our hike will take about two hours and is suitable for those experienced in hiking woods and hills in winter. Wear appropriate hiking shoes.

Dogs must be kept under owner's control and leashed upon request.

The hike will be held unless it is stormy. Meet for the hike at Williams Barn, located at 160 Chicopee Row in Groton. .62651N, 71.56098W.

Creative Digital Photography as Women's Club meeting March 21

On Friday, March 21, the Groton Woman's Club will hold their monthly meeting at the Union Congregational Church at 11:30 a.m. Following the luncheon, there will be a brief business meeting, an induction of new members, a remembrance ceremony for member Jeanne Rechsteiner, who recently passed away, and a program by presenter Carole Bouchard, a digital photographer, on Creative Digital Photography. Luncheon chairmen are Nancy Olson and Eileen Newman. Members are requested to remember to bring food items for Loaves and Fishes.

Dance party March 22

The Groton-Dunstable Arts Boosters will present a dance party on Saturday, March 22, at 7 p.m. at the Groton Country Club, 94 Lovers Lane in Groton.

All proceeds go directly to visual and performing arts at Groton-Dunstable Regional High School (GDRHS).

Sunshine School holds open house March 25

The Sunshine School of Groton will hold an Open House for the Preschool and Pre-K on Tuesdau, March 25, from 1-3 p.m. Sunshine School is a theme-based program housed in the new addition of the First Parish Church of Groton. All are welcome. For information, please call 978-448-6714.

Baked haddock supper March 28

Baked haddock suppers will be returning to Christian Union Church during Lent. The first one will be held on Friday, March 28, from 5-7 p.m. This meal is served plated. The second will be held on Good Friday, April 18, from 5-7 p.m.

There will be NO third Saturday supper in April.
