The selectmen of Groton have called for a special town election to be held on Tuesday, April 1. The ballot will contain one question, asking voters to "exclude" bond payments for the new fire station from the limits of Proposition 2 1/2 on the town's tax levy.

The voter registration deadline for new voters for this special election is Wednesday, March 12, at 8 p.m. Voters may register by mail, using a mail-in voter registration form, or in person at the office of the town clerk. Groton's annual town election, at which town officers will be elected, will be held on May 20, as previously scheduled. Groton's annual Town Meeting will be held April 28.
