PEPPERELL -- On Saturday, Feb. 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Friends of the Lawrence Public Library at 15 Main St., will host its first open house. This event is free and open to the public.
Who are the Friends of the Library? They are a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Pepperell's public library. They sponsor cultural and recreational activities for the community, stimulate the use of the library by funding special programs, focus public attention on the needs of the library and fundraise year round to support those needs.
During the open house, meet the Friends, tour the library, take advantage of free museum passes, sign up for a library card, check out volunteer opportunities, view the current art exhibition by local artists, find out about Open Mic Night, live music events and ongoing children's activities.
Visitors during the open house get special access to a selection of books for children, teens and adults that they can purchase before our Annual Gently Used Book Sale fundraiser in March. You may also donate books for our sale that day. Sign up to be a Friend of the library during the open house and you will be entered for a drawing to win a prize, which will be on display. Enjoy snacks and refreshments and show the kids to the children's library where they can play, explore books and make some Valentine-themed arts and crafts. No registration required.
A recent Pew Internet survey found that most Americans know where their local library is, but many are unfamiliar with the services they offer. The library has something for everyone and it's free. It's a gathering place, an information center, a technology hub and the cornerstone of every community.
Check out everything you've been missing at the library on Saturday, Feb. 8!
