Master Sgt. Tammi Farnsworth grew up in Shirley, attending LAW Elementary School and Ayer High School, graduating in 1994.
Farnsworth joined the USAF on March 16, 1995, attending technical school at Lackland AFB, Texas, following basic training.
As an airman, she was first stationed at Charleston AFB, South Carolina, with the 437th Communication Squadron from October 1995 through June 2000.
She was reassigned to the 352nd Special Operations Group at RAF Mildenhall, United Kingdom, from June 2000 through June 2004.
In June 2004, Farnsworth was reassigned to the 682nd Air Support Operations Squadron (ASOS) at Shaw AFB, SC, where she remained through August 2011.
During her time at Shaw AFB, she was deployed to Iraq and later, to Afghanistan.
In 2011, the 682nd ASOS was permanently moved to Pope Army Air Field at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where she currently resides with her son, Jacob Farnsworth and daughter, Emily Heinemann.
Farnsworth has participated in numerous operations around the world including Bosnia, North Africa, the Mediterranean and the Middle East. She has received many awards, ribbons and decorations from her missions and performance.
Master Sgt. Farnsworth is the daughter of Barrie and Susan Farnsworth, of Shirley, and the sister of Melissa Niland and her husband, Peter, also of Shirley.
Recently, Farnsworth earned her bachelor's degree in organizational management from Ashford University.
