SHIRLEY -- On Tuesday, Jan. 14, the Hazen Memorial Library in Shirley will offer an opportunity to experience stress-reduction and relaxation that comes from the Japanese technique of Reiki.
Reiki is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. The relaxing nature of Reiki can be very helpful to people, especially at difficult times in their lives. Reiki treatments can bring feelings of peace, centeredness and an ability to cope better with the challenges of life.
