WESTFORD -- Dana Hopf, of Shirley, has been selected a Student of the Month for September at Nashoba Valley Technical High School.

Dana, daughter of Tim Hopf, is a senior in the banking, marketing & retail program. She is a high-honors student, and has been inducted into both the National Honor Society and the National Technical Honor Society. Dana is president of the Student Council and is the student representative to Nashoba Tech's School Committee.

As a junior, she served as a Kick-Off Mentor, selected by staff to help incoming freshmen acclimate themselves to Nashoba Tech. Outside of school, she is active in the Shirley Friendship Fund and the Shirley Playboard, which coordinates activities for kids. Dana hopes to attend college next year to study marketing.

She was nominated by TV & Media Production/Theatre Arts instructor Emily Smith, who wrote: "Dana spent her summer planning a variety of events to promote school spirit and get more students involved in activities at the school. She also works part time, as well as being involved in extracurricular activities at the school."

Sarah Ricard, the banking, marketing & retail instructor, wrote: "Dana is an extremely bright young woman who consistently sets the bar high for her peers. Regardless of the task set before her, big or small, it is evident she cares about the end result. Dana never hesitates to give her time to school and community events, and she will be greatly missed when she graduates.
