NORTHBORO -- The American Cancer Society's Road to Recovery program is in need of volunteers from the area to drive local cancer patients to and from their chemotherapy and/or radiation treatments.

An integral part of treating cancer successfully is making sure patients receive their treatments, but many find making transportation arrangements is a challenge.

Road to Recovery provided more than 35,000 free rides to cancer patients in New England last year, but needs new volunteer drivers to keep up with the demand for transportation.

Volunteers use their own vehicles and set their own schedules and receive free training. Treatment appointments take place weekdays, primarily during business hours.

If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a volunteer driver for Road to Recovery, contact Michele Dilley at 508-270-4644 or Michele.dilley@cancer.org.
