WESTFORD -- April showers (may!) bring May flowers, but in addition to those blooms of spring, count on a multitude of "cake occasions" -- special gatherings of families and friends that call out for a special occasion cake: wedding and baby showers, graduations, Mother's Day are just a few.

Professionally decorated cakes are lovely, but often very expensive, and not nearly as good as homemade. Come to NVTHS Continuing Community Education program, featuring NVTHS faculty and Johnson & Wales trained pastry chef Carley Engle and learn simple (and fancy) techniques that will bring your homemade cakes from OK to fabulous.

In eight short weeks (meeting just only on Monday evenings) you will learn to make fancy toppings, elegant décor, and festive cakes and cupcakes for any occasion.

Classes begin on Monday, March 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. and run for eight consecutive Monday nights (excluding school holidays). A supply list will be given upon registration (which is mandatory). For information or to register, call Joann Sueltenfuss, director of Continuing Community Education, at 978-692-4711, ext. 1001.
