Residents of Townsend and area towns have put together the Glenn Roberts Fundraising Project to help Glenn, who was recently diagnosed with ALS. Monies raised will go into a fund to help with any unforeseen expenses which may come up. Glenn grew up in Townsend and was very active in sports during his years at North Middlesex High School, graduating in 1982. He graduated from Bridgewater State College, and received his master's degree in counseling from Fitchburg State University. He has been employed at Mount Wachusett Community College for the past 20 years and works as the associate dean of student support services.
The fundraising efforts include a drawing for a Samsung 32-inch flat screen television; a Sam Thorpe Print of Fitchburg's Coggshall Park; and a handmade quilt made by the Squanicook Colonial Quilt Guild. The donation is $5 per ticket or three for $10. Tickets are available at: McNabb's Pharmacy, Evans on the Common, the Settle Shop, Cliff's Coffee Shop, Pepperell Pharmacy and Tick's Boutique in Pepperell.
The second fundraiser will be Saturday, Feb. 2, with a pasta supper at the Meeting Hall, 16 Dudley Road, Townsend (snow date Saturday, Feb. 9). The drawing for the TV, painting and quilt will be held the night of the supper. Tickets for the drawing and for the supper plus information about the Glenn Roberts Fund are available from Jan Snapp, 978-597-2190 or Cheryl Simoneau, 978-597-6589. Please help support this young man with his fight against ALS.
