BOSTON -- Beginning this Sunday, May 4, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation will be closing Route 2 overnight to repair the center pier of the Hamilton Street Bridge in Leominster.

Work will consist of removing some of the old, damaged concrete and patching with new concrete. MassDOT will also be removing the overhang brackets and temporary shielding that were installed during when the new bridge was built.
Vehicular traffic will be detoured as follows:
All westbound vehicles along Route 2 will be directed to take Exit 32. At the top of the ramp, traffic will take a left onto Route 13, where traffic will follow Route 13 to the intersection with Route 12 for approximately 1.5 miles. Traffic will take a right onto Route 12 and continue for approximately 1.5 miles to the intersection where traffic can reenter Route 2.
All eastbound vehicles along Route 2 will be directed to take Exit 31A. At the top of the ramp, traffic will take a right onto Route 12, where traffic will follow Route 12 to the intersection with Route 13 for approximately 1.5 miles. At that point drivers will take a left onto Route 13, for approximately 1.5 miles to the intersection where traffic can reenter Rte 2.
