BOSTON -- Reports of mismanagement over the weekend spurred House Speaker Robert DeLeo on Monday to call for the resignation of Department of Children and Families Commissioner Olga Roche.

In the face of resignation calls from a number of other lawmakers, Gov. Deval Patrick has steadfastly stood by Roche during recent months of criticism of the performance of the child welfare and protection agency.

Talking to reporters outside his office, DeLeo knocked the agency's management shortcomings, saying "this has nothing to do with money."
