Kurt Jenkins is on stage through Oct. 20 at the Ogunquit Playhouse in Ogunquit, Maine, starring as Buddy Holly in The Buddy Holly Story.
Jenkins played Holly, one of rock 'n' roll's early pioneers, last year in one of the most successful shows in Playhouse history. He continued as Holly in the national tour last year and is thrilled to play the musician whose style influenced so many others and whose life was tragically cut short in a plane crash in 1959, when Holly was only 22.
"I'm proud to play him. He influenced so many musicians and I am so proud of this production," Jenkins said recently.
According to Playhouse personnel, Jenkins' performance is amazing and people confuse him for the real Buddy Holly. "He was passionate and knew what he was doing," said Jenkins. "It's an honor to bring him to life again."
Following his time in Ogunquit, Jenkins joins the company of Million Dollar Quartet in Chicago, where he's understudying the actors playing two other early rock legends, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley. Tickets are still available for The Buddy Holly Story.
