The Groton Firefighters Association would like to invite everyone to the annual Labor Day Muster and Bar-B-Q, on Monday, Sept. 3, at the Hollingsworth and Vose Field, located at 250 Townsend Road, in West Groton.

H&V is thanked for its continued support of this event, allowing various associations within the Fire Department to hold the Labor Day activities on its field for many, many years.

The day starts at 11 a.m. with a parade of emergency vehicles, old and new. The parade moves slowly from the Senior Center on West Main Street and continues onto the field on Townsend Road.

Come see the trucks and listen to all of the noise they can make! Beginning at 11:30 a.m., there will be food available to purchase. Once again, three will be chicken using the famous, yet secret, recipe of barbecue sauce that people coming to the muster have raved about for years. There will be hamburgers, hot dogs, sausages, fried dough and various other treats ... there will be something for everyone! Once the trucks arrive at the field there will be entertainment for young and old, whether it is listening to music, climbing part-way up the ladder on the ladder truck, or trying to knock "flames" down with water from a fire hose.

Muster games will begin at noon. Come cheer on the various teams as they race to connect a hose and get water to a target, followed by a game similar to volleyball, but with fire hoses and lots of water.
