Nashoba Associated Boards of Health/Nashoba Nursing Service & Hospice in collaboration with Central Massachusetts Area Health Education center, Inc, seeks volunteers, age 55 and older, to engage in volunteer service to improve the health of older adults in our communities.

Nashoba Associated Boards of Health/Nashoba Nursing Service & Hospice has partnered with Central Massachusetts Area Health Education Center, Inc. to support and bring the AmeriCorps Healthy Aging Program to our local communities.

As an AmeriCorps member and NNS&H volunteer, you will be trained to provide health education and supportive activities to seniors in the Nashoba Associated Boards of Health member towns will offer weekly home visits for seniors and lead the following Healthy Aging Workshops: My Life, My Health,a Chronic Disease Self Management Program, A Matter of Balance, and Healthy Eating for Successful Living in Older Adults. NNS&H along with CM AHEC offers comprehensive orientation and training. Throughout your service you will be offered ongoing personal and professional development opportunities.

AmeriCorps member requirements and benefits: AmeriCorps Healthy Aging Program Volunteers are asked to provide 450 service hours between the date of their enrollment and August 31, 2013. Upon completing 450 service hours you will receive a stipend in the amount of $1,150 and an Education Award from

the National Service Trust in the amount of $1,415. The Education Award may be used by you, or transferred to your children or grandchildren to pay for educational expenses at qualified institutions of higher education, for educational training, or to repay qualified student loans.
