Effective immediately, the Nashua River Rail Trail bike and walking path, which extends 11 miles from Ayer center northward through Groton, Pepperell and Dunstable, has been closed by the state Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR).

This after the Oct. 29-30 snow storm has left large tracts of the trail unsafe due to downed trees.

Until DCR can assess the extent of the problem and rectify the problems, the Nashua River Rail Trail will remain closed until further notice.
