BOSTON -- Closing arguments in the case against three former probation officials will begin Tuesday morning after testimony drew to a close Friday morning.

After more than two months of prosecution witnesses and cross-examination, the defense presented no case.

Former Probation Commissioner John O'Brien and two of his former deputies, Elizabeth Tavares and William Burke, are facing multiple counts of mail fraud and conspiring to commit racketeering, stemming from their alleged manipulation of hiring for the public safety department, that allegedly ensure people with political backing received jobs.
