HARVARD -- The Rotary Club of Ayer, Harvard, Shirley and Devens is pleased to announce the winner of the 24th Annual Ducky Wucky River Race held on Saturday was Joe Dean of Westford. Dean won the grand prize of dinner for two anywhere in the world after his adopted rubbery duck crossed the finish line first.

The rubber duck adopted by Dean competed against more than 4,000 ducks in this year's race on the Nashua River in Harvard. In addition to the grand prize, 44 other entrants won prizes which are listed below and at www.duckywucky.org.

Proceeds from the race benefit the Rotary's many charitable causes, including local food pantries, high school scholarships, youth sports programs and international relief efforts.

This year's race sponsors, whose generosity underwrites the grand prize, were Ayer Moving and Storage, the Bull Run Restaurant, Closets by Design, David B. Alexander CPAs, Gervais Ford, IC Federal Credit Union, Roux Travel, Nashoba Valley Medical Center, and North Middlesex Savings Bank.

Dean purchased the ticket from the Groton-Pepperell Rotary Club, which for many years has been a ticket-selling partner with the Ayer Rotary Club. The club splits a portion of the ticket sales with its ticket-selling partners which also include Loaves and Fishes, Harvard Schools Trust, the Shirley Meeting House and the Uxbridge Rotary Club.

Prior to the race, the Rotary Club held the 62nd Annual Apple Blossom Festival on Harvard Common featuring more than 50 craft vendors as well as children's games and live music.
