BOSTON -- Throughout 2014 the MBTA will be performing the Second phase of construction of major improvements on the Fitchburg Commuter Rail Line. This is the second year of a 3-year improvement project to improve track, signals, bridges, and stations to reduce trip time and increase service reliability. To facilitate the efficient completion of this work, weekend service will be suspended through the work areas on weekends.

Substitute busing will not be provided.

Weekend train service only will terminate and originate at Brandeis/Roberts from April 26th to June 29th, 2014 to allow work to be performed between Waltham and Fitchburg.

Weekend train service only will be suspended on the entire Fitchburg Line from July 12th through October 11, 2014 to allow work to be performed between North Station and Fitchburg.

Weekend train service only will terminate and originate at Brandeis/Roberts from October 11th through November 22nd, 2014 to allow work to be performed between Waltham and Fitchburg.

Normal Weekend (Sunday) service will operate on the Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day weekends.
