STERLING -- The state medical examiner was called to a wooded area in Sterling on Friday morning in connection with the investigation of a missing 5-year-old Fitchburg boy, according to WCVB.com.
The website reported that the search took place in a wooded area off Interstate 190. Sources told WCVB that a body was found.
Jeremiah Oliver was last seen by relatives in September. Police were not made aware of his disappearance until December after his sister told a teacher at Reingold Elementary School in Fitchburg that she and her siblings were being abused at home.
The child had bruises on her body and showed signs of neglect, according to court documents.
Both Jeremiah's mother, Elsa Oliver, and her boyfriend, Alberto Sierra, were indicted and arraigned in Worcester Superior Court earlier this year in connection with Jeremiah's disappearance.
