NEW FILM SHOOTING IN NORTH CENTRAL MASSACHUSETTS

A new film starring Saturday Night Live's Jason Sudeikis has begun shooting in Massachusetts, using settings in the north-central region of the state (Groton) to substitute for a small town in rural Maine, according to the Massachusetts Film Office. Tumbledown, starring Sudeikis, Rebecca Hall, Joe Manganiello, Griffin Dunne and Blythe Danner, will be the directorial debut of Sean Mewshaw with executive producer Desi Van Til. The film is the story of a young widow played by Hall whose life is changed when a writer from New York, played by Sudeikis, shows up in her Maine town researching the life of her deceased husband, an acclaimed folk singer. "We are so happy to have this film come to fruition in North Central Massachusetts where we have found the same authentic and kind-hearted spirit as the small Maine town that we aim to replicate in the film," Van Til said in a statement. "We have been so warmly welcomed by the community here and we are honored to be the first production in the incredible facility of the New England Studios in Devens." - M. Murphy/SHNS

GEITHNER IN TOWN TO RAISE $$$ FOR FRANK COLLECTION

Former Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and other figures with Washington ties will gather in Boston Seaport Monday evening to fundraise for the Congressman Barney Frank Archive Collection. Frank donated his papers to UMass Dartmouth when he retired in 2012, and committed to visiting the campus twice a year, according to an announcement of the fundraiser from UMass-Dartmouth. "Barney has become a popular visitor to campus, teaching classes, debating groups of students over breakfast, and sharing a wealth of perspectives on the biggest issues of the day," Chancellor Divina Grossman said in a statement. Washington Post columnist and Fall River native E.J. Dionne will moderate a "private discussion on the state of the nation's economy and financial services sector" at the event, which will feature Geithner and former chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission Gary Gensler. Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz was in State House Monday, where she met with Speaker Robert DeLeo. A photo of the Florida pol meeting with the Winthrop Democrat was posted to the speaker's new Twitter account. A DNC spokesman did not respond to requests for information about her visit to Boston. - A. Metzger/SHNS
