HARVARD -- With the contract to provide Devens police services, currently the job currently held by the Massachusetts State Police, due to expire soon, MassDevelopment sent out requests for proposals to eligible entities, including the host towns of Ayer, Harvard and Shirley.
The process is in accordance with provisions of Chapter 498, state legislation under which the state agency governs the former military base until disposition is decided.
The town of Harvard is submitting a proposal and on Monday, June 10, at 7:30 p.m., the selectmen will host a public forum at 33 Andrews Parkway, Devens, to gather input from Devens residents.
The aim of the session is to hear from residents, Selectmen Ron Ricci said, to find out about concerns and ideas they might have in terms of police services in their community.
