SHIRLEY -- In connection with the Ayer Shirley School District student presentation for grades 5 through 8, a follow up presentation for all parents and professionals throughout the district on current trends and social networking sites is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 6 p.m. at the Ayer Shirley Middle School auditorium, 1 Hospital Road, Shirley.
The Internet, cell phones and social networking sites offer powerful and almost limitless opportunities to gain knowledge and make contact with others. While there are many positive aspects of technology, this presentation organized by ASRSD school counseling department and presented by Middlesex Partnerships for Youth Inc., will alert parents and professionals to some common dangers youth face while using the Internet.
Parents and professionals will learn the most up-to-date cyber vulnerabilities that children and teens could be exposed to online, and how to ensure the safest online experience on an ongoing basis.
ASRSD school counselors will be available for a Q&A after the presentation along with Middlesex Partnerships for Youth presenters.
