DEVENS -- A trash truck rolled over Monday morning, leaving officials cleaning up the roadway for several hours, according to state police Lt. Charles McPhail.

McPhail said the accident occurred about 10:45 a.m., as the truck left the Devens Recycling Center on Independence Drive. As the vehicle turned, it rolled onto its side, causing only minor injuries to the driver and no damage to the truck, McPhail said. He said the driver may be cited for speeding.

"It was a sharp turn, and they just don't roll over on their own," McPhail said.

He said no other vehicles were involved in the crash, but the cleanup took several hours.

"There's garbage everywhere," McPhail said.

He did not know the company to which the truck belongs.
