Font ResizeAYER -- On Dec. 28, Ayer police arrested a 55-year-old homeless man who faces several charges after he allegedly entered an Ayer home without permission, refused to leave, inappropriately touched a person while inside the home, and allegedly attacked an occupant with a pocket knife.
Todd McDermott was charged with assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (a knife), indecent assault and battery on a person aged 14 or over, trespassing, and breaking and entering. Police say McDermott knew the victim and the matter remains under investigation. The victim of the knife slash sustained a "very minor injury" which did not require medical treatment, according to police.

On Dec. 29, Ayer police arrested a 54-year-old Ayer man on assault and battery and charges of threatening to commit a crime. David Forman of Columbia Street was also found to have three outstanding default warrants pending against him -- two from Lowell District court and one from Clinton District Court.
Police were called to Forman's residence for a domestic disturbance call in which a physical altercation and threats to commit harm were reported. Police state that no medical treatment was required, nor was application made for a restraining order against Forman.

The victim alleged that Tankersley struck him as he was trying to call police and ripped the phone from the victim's grip. Tankerksley was wanted on a warrant out of Somerville District Court for two counts of assault and battery.
