Thanksgiving meat raffle: The Ayer Gun & Sportsmen's Club will hold a Thanksgiving meat raffle from 7-10 p.m. at 255 Snake Hill Road, Ayer. Come join in the fun and try to win hams, turkeys, pork loins, prime ribs, prizes and gift certificates from our local sponsors. There will also be a special raffle for a flat-screen TV. Veterans Day

The Transfer Station will also be closed for the Veterans Day Holiday.

Sunday breakfast: The Ayer Sportsman's Club resumes its Sunday Breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m., until Mother's Day. The breakfast menu includes pancakes, French toast, omelets, sausage, bacon and ham, and free coffee and juice. Full breakfast $7. Orders-to-go also available. Proceeds benefit the children's fund. Shirley Veterans Day Ceremony: 11 a.m. Whiteley Park, Phoenix Street, Shirley. "A salute to all our veterans, past and present, " public welcome. Keynote speaker: LTC Egan, commanding officer, Fort Devens. The guest of honor will be a 100-year-old WWII Women's Army Corps. veteran.

Fire Dept. Turkey party: 7 p.m., Fire Station.

Public forums

The ASRSD will host two public forums on the Ayer Shirley Regional High School building proposal:

* Nov. 13, 7-9 p.m., ASRMS, 1 Hospital Road, Shirley

* Nov. 14, 7-9 p.m., ASRHS, 141 Washington St., Ayer

Topics include building design, construction phasing, taxes, education, school choice and project benefits.

Tour the high school on their day from 5-6:30 p.m. Tours start in the cafeteria and leave every 15 minutes.

Handouts will be provided; babysitting provided as well.

IMPORTANT UPCOMING EVENT

A Special Election will be held Saturday, Nov. 17, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at Town Hall. The last day to register to vote in this election was Saturday, Oct. 27. The Town Clerk's office will be open between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. for registration.

Household hazardous waste collection

Harvard residents may bring hazardous materials for disposal to the Devens Regional Household Hazardous Products Collection Center at 9 Cook St. (rear) on the first Wednesday and following Saturday of each month (Nov. 10), from 9 a.m. to noon, except for holidays and weather-permitting.

The cost for residents is $20 for up to five gallons or five pounds of material.

Businesses must pre-register.
