AYER -- Two weeks after being approved to do so by voters, Ayer official purchased the deed for a 5.5-acre parcel of land on Oak Ridge Drive was conveyed of record from the Tooker Family on Nov. 6, marking the town's first-ever purchase of conservation land.

On an Oct. 26 voice vote, Town Meeting unanimously approved the use of the Community Preservation Act funds for the $120,000 purchase price and another $1,400 to cover other associated closing and research costs.
