AYER -- Owen Jacobs Salon and Day Spa will be hosting an open house and ribbon-cutting today, Sept. 20, from 3:30 to 7 p.m.
Owner Sara Stancombe opened the salon in May. She's seen great response, she said, and is looking for even more as the Fletcher building at 49 Main St. continues to bring in more and more people curious to see the historic building from the inside.
As Stancombe searched for the perfect team of stylists, she decided to hold off on the open house until now. Although the salon is not fully staffed, they "are getting there, and we have many services to offer customers," Stancombe said.
Specializing in natural and organic hair products and treatments, the salon serves a new direction in hair care as well as traditional techniques. The salon does anything from hairstyling to manicures and pedicures, as well as spa treatments including a Mingun spinal massage and Swedish massage.
According to its website, "The salon and spa has five styling stations and three treatment rooms. One is for pedicures and manicures, the second for massage and facials, the third is designated for a revolutionary massage energy (Mingun) thermal massage system inspired by the effects of acupuncture, acupressure, chiropractic and massage."
"I have been working with organic hair color for four years along with carrying organic products. I have added organic manicures and pedicures, the organic polish and polish remover to the services list," Stancombe said.
The open house will
"If you're shy about massage try our Mingun thermal massage bed or meet Patricia Pacelli, R.N. specializing in professional facial enhancement!" Stancombe said.
