GROTON -- The Zoning Board of Appeals on July 9 voted to grant a waiver to Derek Durkin for construction of a 645-square-foot, two-story addition to his Whitewood Road home.
Durkin needed the waiver because his house was already nonconforming due to being within the minimum front yard setback required by the town's zoning by-law. The addition, which is to include a garage on the ground floor and two bedrooms and a bathroom on the second, would add to the nonconformity by coming five feet closer to the road.
Seeing little actual change to the nonconformance in Durkin's plan, board members voted to grant the waiver.
