Storytimes

Infant Storytime ~ Mother Goose on the Loose (no sign-up) - Ages 0 - 2: Thursdays at 10:30 through May; Thursday, June 13 and Thursday, June 20

Summer schedule for the Infant Storytime will be: Thursdays at 10:30 from July 11 through August 8

Mother Goose on the Loose is an early literacy program that uses rhymes and songs to help pre-reading children get ready for reading. It incorporates music, movement, ritual, repetition, positive reinforcement, developmental tips, nursery rhymes, illustrations, puppets, musical instruments, colored scarves, and book reading into a fun-filled 45 minute session for infants to 2-year-olds and caregivers (older siblings also welcome). Ask to be put on the email list for last minute schedule changes.

Art & Stories for 4's & 5's (no sign-up required) - Ages 4 & 5 and up: Thursday, June 13 and Thursday, June 20 at 2:00

Summer schedule for Art & Stories will be: Tuesdays at 10:30, July 2 through August 13

This 30 to 45 minute program, appropriate for children ages 4 to 7, begins with a few longer picturebook stories, then ends with a process art project that encourages preschoolers to explore art materials in an open-ended, creative manner. Some weeks we'll also have storytelling with the library's puppets or feltboard stories - stories told with felt pieces!

Children's Programs

Family Movie Night! Movie is Rated PG - All Ages: Friday, June 21 at 6:30 PM

We can't tell you the title of the movie here, but here are some clues: This recently released animated film is about an astronaut who finds himself caught in a trap when he responds to an SOS from an alien planet. Popcorn and water will be served. Please pre-register, so we know how much popcorn to buy!

Ice Cream Social - Summer Reading Kickoff! - Tuesday, June 25 at 3:00 PM

Come make your own yummy sundaes, socialize with friends, and enjoy fun activities, including: face painting, paper airplane making, sidewalk chalk art, and bubble blowing. Volunteers needed to help with activities - please sign up to volunteer in the Children's Room. Two rain dates are scheduled: Wednesday, June 26 & Thursday, June 27. Ice Cream Social attendees are encouraged to bring their own non-disposable bowls, cups, & spoons. As in the past, the library will also still provide disposable bowls, cups & spoons. Please, PLEASE pre-register for the Ice Cream Social (preferably at least a week ahead), both so we can provide enough sweet treats for all, and also so that we can notify you if we need to use a rain date. Join this once-monthly book group (which meets one time in the summer) for a lively book discussion and a yummy snack of bagels & cream cheese. Book group members should read all of the book prior to the group meeting. Sign up for a book group, and we will request for you a copy of the book we will be discussing. New members are welcome ~ spaces are limited for some groups.  Please call the Children's Room for more information & to pre-register.

Teen Programs

Teen Book Groups: Grades 7 - 9 ~ Tuesday, July 9 from 4:30 - 5:30

The Teen Book Groups meet on one Tuesday a month; refreshments are served. Book group members should read all of the book prior to the group meeting. Sign up for the book group, and we will request for you a copy of the book we will be discussing. New members are always welcome ~ please pre-register.

Adult Programs

The Brown Bag Book Club is held the third Wednesday of every month at noon. Drop-ins are welcome! The next meeting will be held on June 19th at Fruitlands for lunch to discuss upcoming summer reading books.

Books at Home

The Friends of the Harvard Public Library will deliver books and other Library materials to homebound Harvard and Still River patrons. To sign up, please complete a Registration Form. To have a form sent to you, please call the library at (978) 456-4114.
